I would highly recommend a better dog food. I have been feeding my older guy Nature's Variety raw medallions and he LOVES them (
Nature's Variety). I split his recommended feeding amount into a morning and evening meal, and he also gets a small snack before bedtime. Other companies are also coming out with frozen-raw diets that are really good, including Primal and Stella & Chewys. These diets all use human grade meat products.
In terms of how often, I am a personal fan of two times per day (spaced about 12 hours apart). This schedule seems to work well for both my dogs.
