I am so, so sorry for your Aunt's loss. I couldn't imagine something that horrific happening to one of my furbabies. I got the same remark from a couple family members after Kelli died, "remember, she was just a dog". I HATE that statement....any kind of statement that makes it seem as love from our furbabies and FOR our furbabies is any different than any other kind of love we'd feel for a family member or friend. They become a part of us and when they're gone, it hurts just like (and sometimes even worse) when we lose a family member and/or friend. I know when we lost Kelli I cried so hard I was sick for a day (sorry for TMI), I couldn't make the tears stop, and almost 2 weeks later I still have daily crying spells over missing her so much. Their love is so unconditional, it's in our hearts the minute they give us their snuggles and kisses. I'll be thinking of your Aunt, I hope that with each day things become easier for her.
