Most people will buy a yorkie beacuse they want it to look like one in the pictures- ears up and etc.
If you let the hair grow on your babies ears and do not keep it trimmed- eventually the weight of the hair will pull the ears down. Tails up- that has to do with several things- If your baby had his tail docked to short- it may not look like he/she is has it up. If your baby has low tail set that will make it look like it is down. Third factor is that some babies just do not carry the tail up all the time. Has to do with their temperment- they may be a tad timid or shy.
No one states you must trim the hair on the ears. It is what our standard calls for when you show your baby. Most breeders try and produce babies that are as close to the show standard as possible. Has the perfect yorkie ever been bred no- we all have to continue to strive to improve.
