yes, we do the same thing
I use the Madan brush I bought from Toplinepet.com to get through any tangles the comb doesn't get through easily. Then when I have finished I use a Kent bristle brush to "shine" him.
I spray him with Miracle Coat conditioner before I brush and comb him.
