Layla had an exciting weekend! My brother's girlfriend's kids stayed with us for the weekend but they were honestly such little angels with her. They are 5 and 6 years old and I was surprised at how careful they were. Yesterday they really wanted to go for a walk with Layla in her wheels so we all walked to the park. The kids played in the playground and we let Layla off her leash to explore. Sometimes it seems like she will walk most with a leash on. We want her to know she can get around without it. She just stood there for awhile but soon she was exploring It made me so happy. My brother let me know when he was on his way to our town to pick up the girls, so I headed back home early to start lunch. Layla tried to follow me home! After lunch, the oldest girl drew us a picture to stick on the fridge... it's a picture of Scott and I going for a walk with Layla in her wheels So cute!

On Thursday (or maybe Friday) something very strange happened. We snuggle with Layla before bed at night, so we brought her upstairs and put her on the bed while we went to brush our teeth. Usually she settles right in and waits. But that night, she would not stop barking! I came to check on her and she was acting very weird, pacing around the bed. She kept whipping her head backwards to look behind her as she would jump forward. Then, she whipped her head back and bit at her back foot! It was very strange because she has shown no interest in her back feet at all. It went away quickly though and she was back to normal. I wonder if she was feeling some sensations. We checked for deep pain though and she still had none, and still couldn't feel any further down her back. I will mention it to the vet though!

We have cut back on treatments for financial reasons. She is now going for a rehab session once a week and an acupuncture session once a week. And we're going to try to increase how much we work with her at home. We're going to have trouble finding the time, but who needs sleep anyway?
