I also recommend Flexi retractables. I would not use any other brand. Flexi is made in Germany, good stuff. Don't buy the cheap ones at Ross for 9.99 they are all made in China, not good quality. I got my 26' Flexi from Amazon for about the price that Brit posted. They are expensive at Petco, about $30.
Harnesses, I love my buddy belt. It's super easy to adjust sizing if they are wearing a coat or sweater in the winter, as simple as loosening or tightening your own belt, you don't have to mess with the sliding buckles or have a "winter" and "summer" harness.
