I read somewhere that small dogs growth plates close by 12-14 months for small breeds, 18-20 months for medium breeds and 24 months or up for large breeds like labs, retrievers and giant breeds. Either way, I don't know anything about that as I haven't researched enough but I think you have to do what you feel is right for your dogs!
