I have always cut Dollys hair at home; it's just easier on her & I don't have to worry about making appointments. I do her body with scissors because I like her hair a kittle longer but just got a trimmer for her ears. It's a Conair Ladies 5 in 1 trimmer. It's made for bikini lines & eyebrows so it's got a tinier cutting edge than men's trimmers. I tested the blade without the combs against my skin & really pressed - didn't cut me at all. The "blade" is only about an inch long, so it's perfect size to manuever on her ears. Best part was it was only $6 on clearance! It isn't "professional" quality work, but I really prefer bathing & grooming her myself, so it's perfect for me.
The first time I used it, I put her on my lap and turned it on & gave her treats until she calmed down enough to let me trim her.
