How much time per day is he in the crate? When he does defecate do you throw it away, or are you placing it out where you want him to go? Are you vocal-training him as well with a 1-word command? I am not a big fan of crate training. I used an xpen to train mine that way they had the freedom of an open space, too play around in as well as potty pads in case they needed to relieve themselves.
