I, also, brought home a new puppy with kennel cough. My older dog never contracted it though - so I was lucky there. But..... the kennel cough on the new puppy lasted for a little over a month. He's fine now - and really nothing more than just the coughing. I never gave him anything. The vet suggested giving him cough medicine, but I chose not to because he was on other medicines for giardia and he is so little and just wanted some normalcy for this puppy. The older dogs you really have to watch - that can be dangerous.
