I understand that just because the puppy is AKC does not mean he is breeding material. As far as the 8 weeks is concerned, the law in Florida makes it illegal to sell dogs under 8 weeks. I don't think she is interested in keeping them any longer than that. Everyone is mentioning that 8 weeks is too young, but I'm wondering why that is. My previous dogs have been large breed pups that I brought home at 8 weeks, and my current yorkie girl was purchased at 13 wks because she happened to be the last one left (guess I got lucky). Why is 8 weeks too young?
