Default "Oh I have one too... But he's 3 pounds"

So I have encountered this several times...

I was leaving PetsMart today with both my furbabies... I was almost to my car and heard a lady say "Oh, I have one too! BUT he's three pounds..." like it makes her a better person because she owns a tiny. (Keep in mind, I was walking Khloe who is barely 3lbs). I have also heard this several other times before I had Khloe where people state that they have a yorkie, but it is far smaller.

Do people honestly think that having a smaller dog somehow makes them superior? I just don't understand why it is necessary to share your dog's weight unless someone asks. I could not imagine someone talking about their skin kids and say "Oh I have an 8-year-old, but he's 30 pounds "

Is this odd, or am I just being an oversensitive momma?
