Be sure that you receive and sign a contract when you buy your baby. You want at least 48 hours, not counting weekends, to take the pup to the vet for a well puppy check-up. If the vet says that the pup is unsound or not healthy you want to be able to return him, in the same condition as when you took him, for either a replacement or preferably a full refund. Then you want AT LEAST a one year guarantee against hereditary or congenital defects. It must be spelled out what recourse you have if something does show up. Replacement, full refund, do you have to return the pup? Things can happen with puppies from the best of breeders but the guarantee that the breeder offers speaks volumes about their ethics and the general health of their dogs. A breeder who refuses to guarantee a puppy or only guarantees it for a short time knows from experience that their dogs tend to have health problems. Don't deal with that type of person!!!
