He was lucky. Those LGS's (Large Gray Ships) get old after 1 day. I was on a Mediterranean deployment for 7 months in 74 and it was no fun at all, espeically when you pick up a case of the Sea Sickness. Came back from that, kissed Marge in Morehead City, NC, walked to another Pier, and got in another Ship for 4 months in the Carribean. At least we had a break in having kids!
