No idea why symptoms would increase suddenly after improving. Best left for your vet to answer.
Sometimes it takes time for these things to clear up. Maybe a different antibiotic should be given....I would probably ask the vet if he/she thinks a culture and sensitivity might be in order.
Thank you. I called the vet office. Our vet is in surgery but will call as soon me as soon as she can. She did tell me at the initial visit, it could be a number of strains and the only way to confirm bordatella was with a tracheal aspirate which requires anesthesia. That is pretty invasive and my baby Biewer is 3.4 lbs right now. With her acting fine we both felt that it was unneccessary initially. I agree with you...another antibiotic may be in order, but the amoxicillin/clav is pretty broad spectrum (I am a pharmacist)???
