Last Thursday I brought home a 9 month old Biewer to join my 10 yr old and 14 yr old Yorkies. I quickly discovered she had kennel cough and the very next day my 10 yr old Yorkie started coughing. All of my animals are vaccinated against bordatella (which I know is not full proof) and the vet said there was no way my 10 yr old could develop it in less than 24 hours.

Nevertheless, both dogs received a prescription for amoxicillin/clavulanate and cough medicine. We are day 6 into treatment and this morning BOTH dogs are coughing a lot again. For the past few days the coughing had decreased considerably.

Why would the coughing suddenly increase after 6 days??? Both dogs are eating/drinking/peeing/pooping/playing fine. I am calling my vet this morning but I am wondering if any of you can also offer advice?
