That's a good question. As far as I know, his chip will still work even if I don't pay the fee. There are just extra perks to paying. They send the equivalent of an amber alert to all vets, shelters, and rescues that they know if my pup were to get lost. Whereas, if I don't pay, I'll just have to wait and hope someone takes him in to be scanned.
