You are correct. Pedigree has a lot to do with what your dog will be at adult size. And even at that it isn't a 100% for sure.

It all depends on a given line. There are those pups that grow fast up front and quit at 5 months of age, then there are those that do a slow steady growth....then a growth spurt at 10 months and then again after a year. It's all dependent on the pedigree....whether the dogs were line bred....or just two dogs that were bought for breeding from different kennels and geographical areas.
