All good advice above, but also, don't be afraid to walk away if it isn't a good fit.

I went and saw two dogs about 2 months before I got Piper, going into it I was dead set that I wanted one. When I got there and interacted with them, it just didn't feel right. I couldn't explain it, but just something there.

I finally said no to both, and now got Piper!
