Your setup sounds perfect and is the same that many on YT have used for house training.

Here are a couple of tips I have learned along the way...

if you use disposable potty pads you should use the tray to secure them...that way it's harder for the puppy to use them as a toy and they protect your floor.

don't put a collar on your puppy while it's in the pen...it can be dangerous and possibly deadly to your puppy.

I would use the crate with the door removed so your puppy can get used to being in a crate...sometimes a crate is a neccessity and it's more pleasant for everyone if they are already used to being in one.

Are you using the washable potty pads or disposable? I started out with the disposable and switched to the washable because my girls were tearing up the disposable ones. I regret that now...they think anything soft under their feet is a potty pad so rugs and carpet are fair game. If I had it to do again I would have found the tray a lot sooner and never started using the washable pads.
