Therefore my first breeding was done with my female that was evaluated to a champion in which my mentor thought would be an excellent match. No reason why others could not do what I did - I went to find my mentor and learn all I could before my match was made. And I was only 20 years old. If I could do it, others should too.
So sad today that so many are just breeding on their own and not really doing their best; not having their dogs evaulated by experts in the fields and no testing. A vet is not one to evalutate the standard quality of the dog, unless they too show yorkies and know this breed standard well. I think our breed is going to have a lot of trouble soon (more than what we have now), due to so many people breeding and not having a clue. |
This is an Instand Gratification Society. They want everything yesterday, do not want to put time or work into anything. So, many just go to the first person that will sell them on open registration, don't care what the dog looks like or even if it comes from healty lines.
I really don't understand this mentality. Since breeding didn't cross my mind until my mentor told me I was ready for the next step. I looked at her with a blank look on my face and asked ready for what?
