Wow! Yeah, that's a lot of food. I know 50lb dogs who are fed 2 cups of food per day.
Definitely feed less. Don't always listen to the bag, they way over recommend. And each dog is different.
My
very active Jackson is 15lbs and eats 1/2 cup a day of food total. Occasionally 3/4 cup a day. Plus some treats throughout.
I've never experienced any gas with him since I got him.
Solid Gold is a pretty good food, so you're probably just overfeeding. But other good brands are Orijen and Acana, Fromm, Go!, Now!, Natures Variety, etc.
