Well when I say "little girl" that is a wide range of definitions, Lol. anything is little compared to my pups. I wouldn't get anything under 5 lbs, but I'm aiming for something around 10. My dogs are big, but they are very gentle and have spent a lot of time around small dogs. Both of my sisters have small dogs and they are always gentle with them. One of the dogs is a 3 lb Pom
and they have never hurt her. She actually lives with a Newfie
So, I'm a firm believer that dogs of all sizes can co-exist.
