Jezebel had 8 canine teeth for a while. The adult teeth on the lower jaw came in just inside the baby teeth. The baby teeth did eventually fall out, and the adult teeth moved outward to the proper place.
The upper canines came in on the natural jaw line directly behind the baby teeth. At 7 months the baby teeth had not loosened at all (and they didn't seem crowded so I don't think anything would have ever pushed them out of the way to loosen up), so they were pulled when she was spayed.
