There is no official teacup size, we took a poll here once, and it seems like so many people have different answers, some under 4 pounds some under 3. The word "teacup" is not in the yorkie standard; the yorkie is a "toy" and some people use the word "toy" and "teacup" interchangeably. Most toy breeds are 7 pounds and below so some people think teacup is a dog under 7 pounds. Most advice you'll read, says stay away from breeders advertising "teacups", because there is no true definition, and it's just a marketing ploy. The YTCA, which is the mother club for the Yorkie, forbids breeders to use the word in any advertising. However, pet owners can use any word they want to describe their babies.
