I can put my sweeper at the bottom of my full staircase and attach the stair cleaner to the hose and walk all the way to the top of my steps without having to carry the upright part of it. If you have carpeted stairs and an upright vacuum cleaner, you know what I am talking about! The handle pulls out with an telescopic tube on it that can reach all the way up to the top of my curtains. I say GO FOR IT! You won't be disappointed!
PS: Yep, I've had Hoovers. With over 3,000 SF of carpeting in my house, I would go through a sweeper a year. I've had my Dyson for 2 years and it works as good as the day I got it. I get it "serviced" once a year. Costs me $35 and that's it!
Now that's a great review!!

I'm going to BB&B to *look* at vacuums at lunch. After thinking about this all day yesterday, I went home and got out my Hoover which is a few years old and bottom of the line. It's been making a funny noise, a high pitch whine that gets louder and faster the longer it runs....sometimes I think it's going to blow up.

If I talk myself into a new vacuum right now, it will be a Dyson. I'm hoping that BB&B will have them on display so I can get a feel for how much they weigh, how maneuverable they are, etc. Since it could be returned, I may go ahead and buy one to try out. I still don't know! Sorry for the rambling confusion.....
