My hubby and I got two yorkie puppies a week apart about 7 weeks ago. First the boy who is now 8 months, then the girl who is now 11 months. A week after we got her, she went into heat unexpectedly (according to her breeder. We had planned to spay and neuter them both in July), so we had to separate them and it was stressful for everyone. Then right after she ended her heat and they could be together again, she came down with a stomach issue - mostly seems to be vomiting undigested food, only once a little diarrhea. She had a bit of stomach issues during her heat but not this consistently, and her breeder said she never vomited before. So, we got her on meds from the vet (antibiotic, carafate and pepcid) and a bland diet with small meals, and she finished her meds yesterday and seemed to be coming along for 5 days now but just vomited a small bit of breakfast (still bland diet)! So, the boy is VERY spunky and high energy and into his adolescent stage, and can be relentless wanting to romp with her. He tends to get a bit rough, and I try to let them work it out unless it gets too crazy and she is obviously not happy. Also, they share a potty area and when she needs to poo he distracts her at times and will try to get to her poo, so I separate them to allow her to go but she then seems stressed and at times then won't go. Could her stomach issues be due to stress? Could she be almost "too full" since she has these potty issues due to him?
We love these little furry babies SOOOO much and want them to be happy and healthy again so they can have a normal life, and I am completely baffled at this point. Re-homing either of them is not an option, we are too much in love and want so badly to make this work. Any insight or suggestions are enormously appreciated! |
Well I'm not so sure that I'm clear on what your asking. Do you think she is constipated?
If it is at all possible can you walk them? Do you have a partner that can walk one dog with you the other? Maybe then they can both go potty outside, without one interferring with the other.
You mentioned spaying both in July. Has this been done? Could her stomach reactions be due to the effects of anaesthia?
If you haven't spayed her or your boy yet, are you worried that mayhap the two got together somehow and mated?
What is her water intake like? Does she drink and have access to water all day?
I'm sorry for all the questions, but just want to have a clear picture
