I've had good luck with this groomer, and I know Ruger can be a handful once he starts squirming. The groomer felt terrible, did not charge me and said she would pay the vet bill. She said it's the first time this has happened, and I asked the vet if this was common. She said it's not that common, but she sees more clipped ears than any other groomer injury -- sometimes requiring stitches. She's been grooming my girlfriend's dog for years and never had a problem and he always looks great.
I may experiment with some of these remedies and see what works best. I think I also need to talk to the groomer and tell her if Ruger acts up to just stop. She was clipping his nails and claims he wouldn't hold still, so she pulled out a rotary sander hoping that would work better. The sander is what got him. I will say she's a great groomer, as I've seen dog's that went to other local groomers and they look pretty bad. Last time Ruger looked incredible. She just has to learn when to give up.
