When your pup has tested positive for Lymes but is thought not to have the disease, it basically means that the pup was bitten and exposed to the B.Burgdorferi spirochete; or Lymes. However, the pup has managed to fight off the infection by itself without medical intervention through antibacterial assistance. This means that your pup will not be exhibiting the symptoms of infection such as arthralgia, fever, loss of appetite, swollen lympth nodes, or fatigue; as he has essential fought off the infection, and has successfully created antibodies to defend against the disease. In research, I believe that there is only around 10-15% of the population of canines who do actually develop a full blown case with symptomatology. It sounds like your pup has successfully created enough antibodies to fight off the infection, which is a good thing as she will not develop symptoms or infection. Andromeda has Lymes, and has done the 30 day antibiotic treatment which was successful, thank goodness. She exhibits none of the symptoms of infection, and has not for the past 2 years. I am extremely careful with her and monitor the critical link between the immune system and her GI tract. Keeping the GI system healthy maintains an active and strong immune system which enables her to fight off any more infections. Hope this helps..... |
