Perfect advice! Definitely start with a band only and then gradually move up to a very lightweight, tiny 3/8" bow. It's all well explained in the post above!

For future, if you eventually move up to larger bows, try to still keep them lightweight initially... and work your way up (if desired) to ones with heavier/larger embellishments.

Another little tip for you: If you choose to eventually use bows with barrettes, make a topknot first and then slip the barette through the hair below the band - this will keep it from slipping off.
