That is pretty standard practice. Just make sure you have plenty of time before your flight as you will have to go to the ticket counter for this. They will also give you a special tag for the carrier.
With the Nutrical, I've not seen a travel sized one. What I do when I'm flying a pup is to fill a syringe or two, place them in a ziplock baggie and place it in the pocket of my carrier. Works very well for me.
