Again, this is difficult and I'm sorry you are put in this situation...as a professor is it possible for you to bring her to work, have her in a pen behind your desk or in your locked office? (long shot, but just trying to come up with things that maybe you haven't thought about yet...)
It's funny you should mention that because Sophie loves coming to work with Mommy! I don't teach on Fridays and it's a very quiet day on campus, so most Fridays Sophie comes with me. She has a bed, dishes, toys, and potty pad in my office-- plus a fold up pet house that she loves to climb into for a long nap. I keep all of her things in one of my file cabinet drawers; I keep a pet gate behind my office door-- that way I can have my door open, but she can't get out. My colleagues enjoy it when she comes, and one of the secretaries even bought treats to keep in her desk for Sophie, lol. Today I had a conference with a student and the student called to ask if it was okay if she brought her 8 year-old daughter with her. Okay? Of course! The little girl had a great time playing with Sophie while her mommy talked with me about school.
