Microchip - Yes & make sure you send in the registration information & always update it each time you move or change your phone number!
Pet Insurance - Definitely...unless you are independently wealthy and can afford the thousands of dollars any toy breed such as a Yorkie can rack up in a blink of an eye!
I can't tell you how many times a stray dog is turned into a shelter or rescue and they are microchipped but, the owners never filled out the paperwork to register their dog with the microchip company.
Or, how many times an owner is unprepared for the cost of vetting that can & will arise for their pets and when a real financial disaster strikes they are forced to surrender their dogs so that rescue can afford them the care their pet requires.
