We have a place at the Beach and I've only taken Bri for 20-30 minutes at a time. We let her play in the water a little and then she was ready to go home. She was more interested in growling at other dogs and birds. (She thinks she's human and not a dog). I would suggest trying it out, but make sure she has a ton of water and shade! We take Bri on the boat all the time and she loves it, so there is a possibility Allie might as well.
A few hours might be a little long though, I'd try intervals to make sure she'll be okay!
