I know what you mean about loving too much. I love my little rascal. I didn't get to raise him from puppyhood, but still, he is my baby. I think I take it too far sometimes, and yes, I need a reality check.
If anything, remember that all babies, both skin and fur, need direction. Spend time training your furbaby so he grows up to be a "polite" and obedient adult dog. I get so many compliments about how I "raised" my baby boy from my mom. I've never seen her so proud of me. If you can raise a well mannered furbaby, with a language barrier, you'll make a great mother to a skin baby who will understand better.
