It sounds to me like the police need policing.
Perhaps the breed clubs themselves need to unite and approach the AKC with the possibility of going to another organization, or even starting a new organization.
Every breed club should have one member on a committee that polices the AKC activities. Sort of like Internal Affairs.
They need to let the AKc know that without the breed clubs the AKC would be just another registry.

This has been discussed before in the thread I linked to earlier. Good to see someone else offended by the AKC's practices.
UKC is out there and, though I know very little of it, there is FCI. AKC does need to realize that the tail (registry) doesn't wag the dog (breed club).
