We're getting our six month old puppy on Monday. We're paying extra because the breeder told us that she will most likely be under three pounds as an adult. She is now almost two pounds. Are we paying extra for a dog that may end up being the average size when she's an adult? We saw the mother and pictures of the father - they are all around 5 to 6 pounds. The breeder told us that every so often she gets a small puppy from average size parents. How can one know if the puppy will stay small? I have read that you double the weight at 12 weeks and that give you the adult size. I wish we knew if we were paying too much for a dog that will NOT be small. And, this puppy has the soft/cotton coat - not silky! Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
