That poor dog was doing the jig, so to speak. He couldnt lift his burning feet fast enough off the sidewalk. I yelled at the person that his dog was on fire and to get him into the shade.
I really think that Petsmart should post a big sign outside the store stating that walking pets across the pavement in the summer in Phoenix,AZ is cruelty to animals.
I would love to make that person take his shoes off and walk slowly across the pavement. Just unbelievable.
I know exactly what you mean! Our kiddos aren't allowed outside this time of year hardly at all - unless it's on grass. Once it hits 98-100+ here, we just won't allow them on concrete/pavement etc bc we sure know how it feels on OUR feet.

There was just a story on the news here a couple weeks ago about the guy in Phoenix who ran after his mail truck bc he wanted to get something to his Mailman. The guy ran in his bare feet -- and yup, ended up in the ER with burns. Think he had to go to the Burn Unit too...?

Unless the dog has major callouses and is used to touching extremely hot surfaces underfoot - there is no way they should be walking on surfaces that could burn the skin on their little paws .
