Beware the white foamy mucous. My Kasey had that too -- from allergies, it turns out -- and ended up ingesting the white foam, which turned into pneumonia (on top of a collapsed trachea). Was on a nebulizer and antibiotics and recovered well.

Now when she has an allergic reaction or when she's been barking a lot she starts having trouble swallowing or coughs. I give her doctor-prescribed meds -- a quarter of a prednisone pill and a quarter of a zantac to keep her tummy soothed.... crushed and mixed into a half a teaspoon of honey. Kasey usually feels better within an hour, but it's scary to watch her in distress. I worry about her. Hope this info helps you too.
