Yes trim the hair around her butt..it will help.
As far as growing your best bet is to ask the breeder. They should know how the lines grows. Some grow fast and stop at 6 months..then some will grow over a year. I had one girl to gain over a pound after she was a year. I also had a girls that was 3 pounds at 5 months and ended up weighing 7 pounds.
