My pom panted a lot, but as she got older she panted non stop, she Had congestive heart failure but did fine on medicines for almost 2 years. Also she was 12 years old. Once when I asked my vet why she panted so much she said she was a highly excitable dog. Hope all checks out with him. Also the male I took in who was a previous rescue, will go after my girls and has snapped at me when startled. Fortunately he doesn't have any teeth so he can't hurt us. Since we don't know his history, I am guessing he was abused and his biting is a result of this.
