Has anyone had an issue with Hormonal Imbalance causing spontaneous late term abortions? What did you do to correct it? How did you know that it was a Hormonal Imbalance and not some other issue?

Reasoning for the questions is this,
I had a bitch that was at 52 days and had sudden green discharge, took her temp checked heartbeats of puppies all was normal, took her into the emergency vet. They did a cytology on the discharge, a CBC, also did an ultrasound to check fetal heart rate. Everything way normal. Ultrasound showed strong fetal heartbeats and they were still attached to Placental wall. was given a 50/50 chance of bitch going to term with her pregnancy.
Now also add that her vulva which up til about 7 weeks was swollen like it is supposed to be during pregnancy, suddenly shrinks back to normal size.
After talking to a few vets and breeders it was suggested that it is more than likely a hormonal imbalance.
