I put Snickers in his crate about 2 times during the day, not only so he can have a break from everyone, but so I can too!!! I dont see anything wrong with it, in fact they say they need a place where they can go away from everything else. Dont feel guilty about it, everyone needs a break once in awhile, just dont put her in there for a long period of time, I usually leave Snickers in there for about an hour and when he comes out he goes outside to go potty and back inside ready to play!!
