You can breed Boxers and get both solid and parti pups...
I guess my concern is that you can not get a mix of both colors in the same litter thus making it easier to make the blue/tan yorkie genetically extint in years to come if the white was allowed as a variation... |
OOh, I see what your saying.. No, you could not breed a parti to a parti and get blue and tan pups... BUT, I don't see how or why the blue/tan would become genetically extinct either.. I certainly don't see everyone rushing out to start breeding Parti colored Yorkies.
The standard color yorkie is and always will be the traditionally colored, more popular color (IMO) The "purest" in the Yorkie world will always strive to maintain the blue/tan and their lines will not include the Parti's.. If you look at the other breeds that support other colorations, say the cockers.. there are still very distinct colors.. the buffs have not gone away, nor the blacks just because there are Parti cockers.. you just need to know your lines and who you are breeding too.. the pedigrees are marked with colors for reasons I would imagine.
The carriers are where things could get dicey.. in the Biewer registry I register with.. the carriers have a different series of numbers so it is easy to track.. this I believe is a good practice and a valuable tool.
