It's actually pretty easy to do simple things like fix a picture. If I were you, I would open a picture and make a copy of it so that you don't ruin the original. Use the copy and just play around. Test out some filters. If you have anything really specific that you want to try but have no idea how, just type it in the search bar at the top of the program and see what it tells you.
