Update about Trixie..
She went back friday for a blood test to make sure all of her protein levels were doing good. Turns out that they were not. So yesterday we took her back for another blood test, and they did a urine test to see if she was 'getting rid' of good proteins that way. It turns out that she was. The vet says that this means that her liver isnt working. We have to take her to virginia tech on friday morning to do an ultrasound to see if it's the valve that carries toxins into the liver to filter them out of her body. More than likely, this is what's going on. The vet said they'll have to put a 'shunt' in the valve in her liver to open it up, to allow the proteins and other stuff to filter through. If we let this go without doing anything, her blood will poison her, resulting in seizures and brain damage..and then death. This was something she was born with. I'm kinda wondering if we got her from a bad breeder? But there's nothing we can do about that now. She's our baby and we're going to do everything we can to get her better! It's just sad that they'll have to open up her belly AGAIN. |
