Default Wearing nails down to the quick?

I went over to a friend's on Sunday and of course brought Couver and Khloe with me. Couver loves to chase the kids around, so he spent a couple hours chasing and barking at the kids. He was wearing his lifevest and everything, so I thought he would be fine. I even had him come sit with me a few times to calm him down so he wouldn't overexert himself.

However, at one point, I noticed he had his tail down and wasn't acting like he felt good. I picked him up and loved on him and noticed that he had ran around the pool so many times, that he had worn his toe nails down and they were bleeding. His nails on his back feet were bleeding

I then chose to wrap him up in a towel and head home. He definitely was not feeling good and was exhausted from the day. I got bandages on the way home and wrapped both back feet to try and help him with the bleeding and pain. I even brushed some liquid bandage on the ends of his toenails to try and stop the bleeding. He did fine with this, and they stopped bleeding right away.

I never realized that he would run himself to the point that he would bleed! He is definitely an intense little guy! Poor thing has been licking his toenails today and is even acting like the front ones are bothering him. I figured there was not much the vet could do so we've been doing the home remedy.

Has anyone ever had this happen?
