Default Pee Pad & Outside Training

What are you thoughts/experiences with pee pad and outdoor potty training at the same time? Can you do both? Will they be able to transition to just outside if at a different home?

I ask because Piper is pretty good about using the pee pad at my house (she will also go outside when we take her), but this past weekend we went to my parent's house and I think she forgot what a pee pad was....

Would it be better to just outside train and forget the pee pads so when we travel there won't be the confusion?

I'm hesitant to get rid of the pee pad because 1. she already gets it here (and makes my life easier ) and 2. It gets cold in Wisconsin and when it is 0 degrees and we have 2 feet of snow, who wants to go outside?

I know that the forgetting of the pee pad at my parents was probably because it was a new place and their layout is completely different than my place, but I want to be able to bring her places and not worry about peeing in someone's house. I feel that pee pad training, lets her think that it is "ok" to go in the house.

Thanks in advance for the advice!
