As for keeping the food wet, I would think he should be able to have dry kibble by now. It's good for his teeth, keeps them cleaner and helps the adult ones come in. You might want to get some bully sticks also for him to chew on, he should start teething in a month or so and my chew things you would not like. You could always feed him the wet at meals and leave the dry out all the time if it makes you feel better.
