Not to be too graphic, but let's just be graphic and get it over with. Do you mean like the opening-tip, or more like on the outside/perimeter of the tip? Is it just a bit red or something?
If it's more on the perimeter, and if you have a bit of hydrocortisone cream - you could take a tiny bit and rub it in on the area...trying your best to get it all rubbed in there, so he won't just lick it all off later (so just rub a small dot in, then a little more if able to, etc).

yup - for minor irritation you can use OTC creams - hydrocortisone always works and in a pinch triple antibiotic cream works too - I accidentally gave Chanel a tiny rash a long time ago ....I learned to never shave against the skin..... you want to get close but not make skin contact in those areas -
After I noticed the irritation I put a tiny bit of Triple Antibiotic cream on it and it was gone the next day
and yes - they'll lick it - so just use small amounts like Ann mentioned
